The Unforgettable Weekend...

The past weekend, we joined CAT from Sacramento for a refreshing retreat over at beautiful Redwood Glenn (about 25 miles from Half Moon Bay).

Lovely faces of CAT girls. I enjoyed every moment spending with the CAT ladies.

I like how creative the guys are when comes to making funny faces.

Also, something very special and surprising happened...

WE ARE ENGAGED!!!

I am so glad that Peter chose to share the special moment with CAT. God brought us together in CAT and the group held us accountable in our relationship and encouraged us during our rough time. I thank God for this wonderful group of brothers and sisters. I am excited even though we know there will be a lot of work from this point on. I treasure every moment I have with family and friends....

First Entry of the Year

Noodle has gone for more than a month. I miss him so much and thinking about him everyday. One of my family entertainment is to look at Nood Nood's pictures. Even though we miss him so much, we know that someone is taking good care of Noodle and he is happy. Good bye Nood Nood.

The day after Christmas, I got a guitar lesson from my friend Annie. So I baked her my famous short bread. I alterned the original receipe by adding walnut chunks and changed to different flavors.
Top left orange red: Strawberry

Middle row left: Rasberry
Middle row center: Coco hazelnut
Bottom center: Guava strawberry

Peter's back! I am definitely grateful and happy that he is back to the city. Even though he is going through quite an adjustment, he is with his family and we are growing together in the same social community. I hope Peter will be more settled in soon. I am really thankful for him and what he did for me The picture was taken on new year's day with family at a popular dim sum restaurant.

Noodle got his name from the box he first came home with. The box says "instant beef noodle." Noodle is EXTREMELY playful, high energy, curious and smart. His best friends so far are....slippers, the floor mop, and chicken flavor dog bones.....

Noodle loves the Asian pumkin. He hugs it to sleep.

Does Noodle look familar? Yes, Noodle's older brother is Be Be whom we had for a day. See my past entry for Be Be's pictures. My family is debating whether we should keep Noodle because he is quite messy and don't like to be kept in the kitchen. If we give Nood Nood away, I will miss him a lot for sure.

Weekend in Tahoe

Finally, I moved in to my new place and have sometime to update my xanga. I had to place a lot of things on hold during the time of moving and settling. I love my new place btw. So comfy and cozy. We still need to get more organized, but we are pretty much unpacked. Here are the pictures from the weekend up in Tahoe for Darren's competition. He did great! Sorry that the pictures are bit out-dated.

I was sitting outside that Saturday afternoon. It was peace and quiet. The sky was blue and so does the water. This was a view from the back of Darren's cabin. Beautiful view!

Happy day in Monterey

It has been a while since updating the site. Btw, I have started my new job for about a month now. So far so good. Here some pics from a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with Peter and friends. I never been to the Aquarium and I have been wanting to go. I finally got my wish granted. It was a lot of fun hanging out and getting to know others.

My mom brought home Be Be one day . Be Be is only 2 months old. He loved to sleep under the dining table and to follow me around. He was really afraid when he first came to our home. But he was much more comfortable after one night. I remember Be Be looked sad and followed me to the door when I left to work the next day. Too bad that we couldn't keep Be Be because we have no space at home. He is now lives at a comfortable home and being well taken care of. But we really like Be Be and miss him....

My First China Trip in 15 Years

I am back! My family and I had a great time in China. This is my first China trip in 15 years. Basically, I've not gone back to visit since I came to the states. My idea of China and my hometown is completely different than what I saw in this trip. It was a joy to see my family in China. I was shock to see how much people changed. I couldn't recognize most of the family members! In the same way, they remember me as a little girl. I miss them so much that I was still in tears after I left for 2 days. In 2 weeks, my dad and I visited ShenZhang (Canton), DaLang (Canton), ZhongXiang (Canton, my birthplace ), Macau, and HK. Here are some pics of the awesome experience in China...

In ShenZhang...

A view from my uncle's home in ShenZhang. Traffic was a mess. I was afraid to cross the street by myself. Cars, motorcycles, bikes, and people from different directions all go at the same time.

In DaLang...

Enjoyed the best dim sum at a tea garden in DaLang (not sure about the spelling..hehe). The tea garden is new and it was built based on the old models.

In ZhongXiang...

Visited my elementary school!!! I was touched that it's still there and everything looks the same! Btw, I never graduate from there...haha...

The school yard where I used to think it's big and spacious.

And I still remember my own classroom. I helped out doing the writing in the back board once...

My dad also attended the same elementary school when he was little. The school got rebuilt while I was attending. Everything looks different for him except we both remember the big old tree in the school yard. As always, we thought the tree was much bigger....
The school is well-known because we have one of the couple old trees in the city. I remember it took 5-6 of us to hug the base.

The city preserves the most valuable transportation tool -- tour tricycles! Each tricycle can take up to 3 people. It's inexpensive and goes through the old streets of the city if the driver is a ZhongXiang local. Btw, almost 3/4 of the city has been rebuilt. Everywhere we went was new and modern. I couldn't recognize the streets at all! I was so happy to see that tricycles still exist because I remember I loved to ride on a tricycle more than a car.

The city also remodeled one of the old streets. They turned the street into a walking historical museum. The houses on that streets are actual old houses and there are many small shops. All the houses on that street were built based on the western style. There are signs and old photos posted on the side of the street telling the history of ZhongXiang.

The old central part of the city. I used to go through this intersection each day for school. In my mind, it's wide and busy. It's no longer wide and busy as the city shifted the central to the new developed area.

ZhongXiang has a lot of my childhood memories and it's so different now. I hardly run into anyone that's actual ZhongXiang local because the city is expending and lots of people from the north work in the city and they out number the local people. While I was there, I even forgot that I was at my birthplace because not so many speak my own local language...

At this point on for my trip, I ran out of battery for my camera. I had to take pics with my relatives' cameras, so I have no pics for the HK and Macau areas right now. I will upload those once I have them. Macau is another amazing place!

Btw, I lost my job when I return to SF. I just found out the news right when I got back home. The company failed to fulfill their promise. I am on the job search again. Please pray for God's provision and guidance. I have been feeling unsecured with my job situation. I really would like to get settled.....

Beside the job problem, I am still jetlegging. I have been feeling very tired after all the travel and visits. After all, I think the trip still worth giving up my job because I got to see the family members that I've been missed. 15 years is a long time....

We visited the Grand Canyon for our family trip this new year. I know it has been a while, but I want to share the amazing view of Grand Canyon. I was completely amazed by the work of God and His power and artistic ability! Who can do this but God?

As I was experience a rough time with God, I found Psalm 13 very comforting. It was the perfect illustration of my thoughts and feelings. Of course, I hope that I can be more alike King David, who truely gave praises to the Lord in distress.

O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?

How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,

Finally.... got to update my xanga....hehe
Here are some of the pictures from Josh and Tracy's wedding trip. Mindless me, my camera was out of battery at the wedding. Here are some of the pics from our awesome tour at the Sonora Museum. I was amazed by the countless number of cactuses. Kinda of reminded me of some scenes from "The Road Runner" cartoon....beep beep...

Large size cactuses are common in Tuscon, Arizona. Before I realized that they're grown naturally in Tuscon, I thought they were planted for tourists.

Oh... I remember having an interview the day right after...and this was my first interview in SF... my mom got me swiss roll and my dad made me this wonderful tea before I left the house....this said a lot...I was looking at my breakfast and I felt love

My job search story has not end yet... Here are some numbers so far
in nearly two months after I quite my last job I have been to...
6 company interviews...
4 recruiter interviews with multiple tests...
2-3 more company interviews next week...
and sent out more than 100 copies of my resume! ( no kidding...I send average 20 copies a day...to all design jobs and to most jobs that kind of relate to my work experience)

I was getting a bit discourage and tired...but the Lord has been teaching me how to be obediance and to remain faithful in Him...I am really learning how to give thanks and praises to God in the mist of trials and unknowns.

I believe He has already open the ONE door that He has for me... I don't know which door...I may not see it right now....but there is only one door..which is in His will....so I pray that God will show me His way and help me to get there by relying on His strength...I am feeling more relief and comfort right now knowing that God's with me always
